Community

volunteering1The Junior League of Evansville has provided over 90 years of service to the greater Evansville, Indiana area, and we look foward to decades more impact as we continue to move forward. Our 2015/2016 community-wide C.A.N (Community Action Now) campaign asked both members of our League and our community: “How C.A.N. we become more involved through positive action in our community?”  An individual can impact their community in a variety of ways: whether assisting a neighbor with the lawn; reading books to a group of children; advocating for a cause; attending a fundraiser; volunteering for local nonprofits or even starting a new nonprofit in an under-served area; there is a way that everyone and anyone in the greater Evansville, Indiana area C.A.N take community action and make a positive impact in the tri-state.  In 2016/2017 we examined our impact through specific needs assessments guided by utilizing the community needs assessment conducted by United Way of Southwestern Indiana, Deaconess Health System, St. Mary’s Medical Center, ECHO Community Health, and Welborn Baptist Foundation to help hone our focus to a specific community need.
